Can varnish effects be priced from ink coverage alone?

Approve gloss effects as a physical finish, not a screen simulation. Artwork separation, layer registration and the chosen print mode influence the finished appearance.

Separate finish from color Prepare a clearly named mask for the areas receiving the effect. Confirm whether the design calls for a subtle highlight, texture or a specific surface appearance. Ask the supplier to confirm that the machine and ink configuration support the requested effect.

Evaluate under realistic light View samples from several angles and check edges around lettering and small shapes. Record the layer sequence and print mode. Include extra passes and handling in the production quote rather than treating a finish layer as free capacity.
