Color & workflow
Approving Brand Colors on Digital Printing Equipment
Approve brand colors on the actual substrate using a defined reference and viewing condition. A color name alone does not guarantee the same appearance across materials.

Define the target
Ask whether the reference is a physical sample, specified color value or an approved earlier print. Record the substrate and finish of the target. Explain when the new material or ink system produces a different appearance.
Record the approved result
Print a comparison under controlled conditions and document the chosen file and RIP settings. If measurement is part of the contract, agree the method and tolerance before production. Keep a sample for repeat orders and reapprove meaningful process changes.
Production checklist
Use these checkpoints to prepare a trial or discuss the configuration with your supplier. Record the result for each item before approving a production change.
- Reference identified
- Substrate and finish specified
- Viewing or measurement method
- Approved sample archived
Can one approved color recipe be used on every material?
Do not assume that. Material color, finish and the printing condition affect appearance. Validate each relevant production condition.
