Selecting Wide-Format Media for the Intended Application
Select media by application, compatible ink system and finishing requirements. A roll that feeds successfully is not necessarily suitable for the customer’s end use.

Define the finished graphic
Record installation surface, viewing distance, indoor or outdoor placement and expected handling. Obtain the media supplier’s compatibility and application guidance. Keep the exact product and finish identified rather than ordering from a generic material name.
Approve the complete output
Print a representative file with the appropriate media preset and complete the intended finishing steps. Inspect color, dimensions and handling. Validate a media change before substituting it into an existing customer order.
Production checklist
Use these checkpoints to prepare a trial or discuss the configuration with your supplier. Record the result for each item before approving a production change.
- End use defined
- Exact media product
- Compatible ink and preset
- Finished graphic approval
Can the cheapest printable roll replace an approved medium?
Only after application and output checks. Feed compatibility alone does not establish suitability for installation or finishing.
