Building a DTF Garment Wash-Test Record
A useful wash-test record identifies the exact garment, transfer process and care conditions. Avoid claiming a fixed wash life unless that claim is supported by a defined test.

Keep paired samples
Prepare comparable garments using the same approved production setup. Retain one unwashed sample as a visual reference. Record artwork coverage, fabric composition, film and powder lots, curing and pressing settings. Photograph the starting condition consistently.
Define acceptance before testing
Agree what cracking, edge lift, color change and distortion are acceptable for the intended product. Follow the garment and transfer supplier’s care instructions and record each test stage. An internal check is useful for process decisions but is not automatically an accredited laboratory result.
Production checklist
Use these checkpoints to prepare a trial or discuss the configuration with your supplier. Record the result for each item before approving a production change.
- Garment and transfer traceability
- Unwashed reference retained
- Care conditions recorded
- Acceptance criteria agreed
Can I advertise a wash count from one good sample?
One sample does not establish a broad durability claim. Use a defined, repeatable test with representative garments and document the limits of the result.
